Canadian Drug Reimportation

Ken Parker led the effort to develop a Canadian Drug Reimportation program in Newton, bringing the author of a leading program from another Massachusetts Community to present information on their program to the Board of Aldermen's Committee on Programs & Services. Ken worked with then-Chief Administrative Officer Mike Rourke to work out the details of the program, including a mail-order generic option, and to develop a consensus in favor of implementation.

Through December, 2008, Newton's Canadian Drug Reimportation Program has saved the City and its employees a million dollars, including $491 thousand in 2008 alone.
