The excellence of the Newton Public Schools has been the foundation of our community. Like so many families, my family moved to Newton for the schools. The reputation of our school system has kept Newton's property values high, even during difficult fiscal times. When we invest in our public schools, everyone wins.

Over the course of my fourteen years on the Board of Aldermen, I have fought tirelessly to maintain and to improve our schools. Working with colleagues on the Board, my friends on the School Committee, and three Mayors, I have worked to make sure that our school system provides the children of our community with the best education possible. Specifically, I have worked on the education-related issues of infrastructure, technology, and funding.
